In this workshop we will share the partnering practice that we have developed through improvisation and creation processes, which is rooted in principles of empathy, listening and trust.
We will start with the act of connection, first of our bodies with the earth, then with other partners, accumulating trust and support, while in a complex physical relation of sharing weight. We will explore the technicalities and at the same time the performative color of touch, of invitation, of counterweight and of carrying each other. This work will mix set partnering material and improvisational tasks.
We will then create space for all the participants to translate and modify the material and experiment on bringing it to life through performative scores.
Margherita Dello Sbarba and Alexandros “Greco” Anastasiadis are a duo of dance makers forming the company Uncanny Paradise. Their artistic work addresses themes of empathy, community, sensitivity and joy. Eager to place their work within the context of our societies, they explore hybrid artistic languages, forming collaborations with other disciplines and they challenge the performer-audience relation through elements of interaction and surprise, while using a poetic and sensitive language.
In their eagerness to bravely articulate a feminist, egalitarian and imaginative perspective on subjects they feel are under threat, they seek links between creation processes and their products, following the principle that the human experience needs to match the goal of the artistic vision. Aside of their creations, they facilitate platforms of artistic encounter, fostering exchange, like FEED! – feedback events and jam sessions.
They are based in Brussels, but they perform and teach europe-wide with their duo and solo projects as well as with groups like Dans Kapot.
